The wait is finally over, and the season is set to tip-off. The Golden State Warriors will be taking on the Los Angeles Lakers tonight in Los Angeles at 7pm on TNT.
The Warriors are riding the momentum of an undefeated preseason where they looked impressive—shooting a cascade of three-point shots while having the ball fly from player to player. The new additions to the team have fit in well with Otto Porter Jr. living up to his catch and shoot reputation and Nemanja Bjelica showing off his potential as a playmaking and floor-spacing big man. The most welcome surprise of the preseason was the excellent play of Jordan Poole. He consistently found ways to leave an impact on the game by scoring in a multitude of ways. Finally, the Warriors still have a player who casually dropped 41 points in the preseason finale. Stephen Curry showed that he is already in mid-season form and he’s just getting started.
For the Lakers, they come into the season without a win during the preseason. Their offseason featured several flashy additions highlighted by their trade for point guard Russell Westbrook. Besides the preseason, the most recent matchup between these teams was last year’s play-in game where the Warriors loss to the Lakers, 100 – 103. However, both teams come into the season looking very different than last year, so it should be a fun matchup.
