As the Golden State Warriors get busy during the preseason, I know all that basketball-related excitement may get some local hoopers pining for competitive events that they can perform in themselves.

If you’re a Bay Area baller looking for a new challenge and you’ve got some teammates you trust, come on down to the Red Bull 3X Basketball Oakland event and enter a 3v3 tournament that could get you into FIBA competition.

When: October 23, 2021

  • Women’s Check in Time: 8:30 AM
  • Men’s Check in Time: 10:30 AM

Where: Soldiertown at 31 4th St, Oakland, CA 94607

All participating teams will battle for a $5,000 prize, with the first place team winning $3,500 and the 2nd place team taking home $1,500. Additionally there is a Series Prize Purse of $50, 000 awarded to the top three individual men and women with the most points in their best of five Red Bull 3x events at the end of the season. Players must compete in at least 5 of the qualifiers for consideration.

  • 1st Place: $15,000
  • 2nd Place: $7,500
  • 3rd Place: $2,500

That’s some pretty good money, but that’s not all folks. This could be your big break into international competition. Per the Red Bull FAQ:

At least the top 4 men’s and top 4 women’s teams from each Qualifier will be invited to play in the Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Regionals event taking place this fall (details to be confirmed). There will be an additional 4 wildcard bids available determined by a Red Bull and USA Basketball selection committee. Only U.S. participants are eligible to advance to the Regional and National Finals.

That’s right, USA Basketball wants to see what you’ve got on the court. The U.S. men failed to qualify for the Olympics in 3x3 basketball, but the U.S. women won Olympic gold in Japan this summer.

Registration will be available on a first come-first served basis, so sign up now if you want to take on the challenge. Visit their site here and sign up if you’ve got what it takes.
