The Golden State Warriors will be playing more than 72 games this season. They’ve been in prime position to make the play-in tournament for some time now, but on Monday it became official.
With the Memphis Grizzlies beating the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, the Warriors officially punched their ticket to game No. 73.

Where they end up there is still to be determined. They’re in the driver’s seat to finish No. 8, which would give them two chances to make the actual playoffs. But they’re still in danger of falling to No. 9, and needing to win two consecutive games in order to book a trip to a seven-round series.
Either way, there will be a game No. 73, and that’s exciting. The final game of the regular season is on Sunday, but it won’t be the final game of the year. There will be more Warriors games for you to watch.
