The Golden State Warriors are in the beginning stages of a longer-than-expected break after missing out on the NBA playoffs. The Dubs lost back-to-back play-in games and aren’t a part of the postseason for a second-straight year.
The main reason why the Warriors hung around the play-in race is the play of Steph Curry. The two-time MVP captured the NBA scoring title, averaging 32 points per game. Curry’s season was so good that he received the second-most first-place votes for MVP and finished third overall in voting behind winner Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid.
Curry has accomplished so much during his career, but one thing remains missing. Steph has always wanted to win an Olympic gold medal while representing TEAM USA. He passed up on the opportunity in 2016 after the Warriors’ grueling 73-win season and seven-game NBA Finals defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Even with the Olympics scheduled to take place in Tokyo during the pandemic, the 33-year-old still hasn’t closed the door on playing for Team USA. The Athletic’s Joe Vardon reports Curry is “50-50” on playing this summer.
The Olympics are scheduled to begin on July 23, and Curry has already begun his offseason training program. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will be an assistant to Gregg Popovich with TEAM USA, so Curry could join him in Tokyo this summer.
Do you think Steph should suit up for Team USA at the Olympics?
