Tuesday night’s primetime showdown between the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns just got quite a bit more exciting. After a lot of speculation over the weekend, the Suns have made it official: Bradley Beal will return on Tuesday.
Beal was the biggest addition in an offseason full of moves, as the Suns try and build a championship team around Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Beal — a three-time All-Star and one-time All-NBA selection who has averaged 22.1 points per game for his career — was traded to the Suns from the Washington Wizards, in a package that briefly sent Chris Paul to the east coast, before he was rerouted to Chase Center for Jordan Poole.
But Phoenix fans have had to wait to see their three-headed scoring monster play together. A back injury has limited Beal to just three games with his new team, over a stretch in mid-November.
Not only that, but Booker was injured for the three games that Beal did play, so the Suns still haven’t suited up their new triumvirate in the same game. That’s likely to change on Tuesday, though it’s worth noting that Durant is listed as day-to-day with an ankle injury, an missed Phoenix’s last contest.
The Dubs and Suns have played twice this season, with Phoenix winning each game. Beal didn’t play in either game, but neither did Draymond Green — and it’s worth remembering that those two have some beef in their history.
Hopefully all of the star players are good to go for each squad, because Tuesday’s game could be all kinds of fun. It takes place in Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. PT, and will be nationally broadcast on TNT.
