Preview: Warriors take on Nets in Chase Center

Who will get hotter, Klay Thompson or Cam Thomas?

The Golden State Warriors are back in action Saturday night, with a lot more questions than answers at this point of the season. They’re 10-14 and missing Draymond Green who has been suspended for an unknown amount of days. They’ve also benched Andrew Wiggins, mildly stunning considering it was just in 2022 he was an All-Star who was arguably the 2nd best player on GSW’s championship playoff run.

But at least their younger Splash Bro Klay Thompson had a game to break out of his slump, going for a season high 30 points with 8 triples after playing so underwhelming that he was benched recently in crunch time by Coach Steve Kerr.

The Nets have a 13-11 record right now, in large part due to the surging powers of Cam Thomas. A GQ article entitled “Is Cam Thomas the Next Great Scorer?” came out a couple weeks ago, comparing Thomas to the statistical accomplishments of the GOATs:

Thomas’s style of play is the natural outgrowth of a generation raised on NBA 2K and Kobe Bryant highlights. The Nets guard’s gaudy stats this season have put him on lists alongside: Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Shaquille O’Neal. Most impressive is when there’s no comparison to name at all.

Will the Warriors be able to slow Mr. Thomas down? To do so they’ll need to find some grit in a defensive unit that is ranked 14th in the league right now and has continually failed to protect Golden State‘s leads this season.
