Against a team with a couple of NBA veterans and Los Angeles Lakers assignee Darius Johnson-Odom, the Santa Cruz Warriors' impressive defense came through for them in the fourth quarter once again as they defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders 99-93.
The Warriors held the D-Fenders to 37.5% shooting in the fourth quarter despite Johnson-Odom continuing to impress. From the Warriors release:
After L.A. took an early 2-0 lead, the Santa Cruz Warriors took control by going on an 8-0 run and never looking back for the remainder of the game. Keeping with the defensive theme this road trip, the Warriors held the D-Fenders to 41.2% shooting from the field and out-rebounded L.A. 53-38.
Travis Leslie has continued to impress with a team-high 23 points on 10-for-14 shooting and 8 rebounds, one of six Santa Cruz players who hit double figures in scoring.
Santa Cruz is now just two games away from their home opener on December 23rd in Kaiser Permanente Arena against the Bakersfield Jam, who feature NBA assignees Quincy Acy (Toronto), Kendall Marshall (Phoenix), and Mike Scott (Atlanta).
