Golden State Warriors call-up Hilton Armstrong from Santa Cruz

Highlights of Golden State Warriors signee Hilton Armstrong playing in Santa Cruz (via Santa Cruz Warriors YouTube).

The Golden State Warriors have formally announced the signing of Santa Cruz Warriors center Hilton Armstrong - first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski - making him the Sixth GATORADE Call-Up of the 2013-14 NBA season.

Armstrong was in his second season with the Santa Cruz Warriors having also played with them last season. Although he has been a presence in the D-League, he has had trouble establishing himself in the NBA as described by SB Nation's Drew Garrison.

The 6'11 center has career averages of 3.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game since being drafted out of the University of Connecticut with the 12th-overall pick of the 2006 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Hornets. The Warriors will be the sixth NBA team he will be play for after being traded multiple times throughout his career.

Interestingly, Armstrong played alongside recently-waived Golden State Warriors center Dewayne Dedmon with Santa Cruz just last night in a 111-103 win in Bakersfield; Dedmon had gaudier stats, but Armstrong came away with a +11 plus/minus. Let's hope for Golden State's sake that Armstrong can make more of an impression at the NBA level than Dedmon did.

For those interested, he will wear number 57.
